ModMed API Portal

ModMed® has created a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) certified API that allows both providers and patients to access and share their clinical health data with other health systems.

Both patients and providers will have the ability to connect to other FHIR applications and interact with those applications through our EMA® and gGastro® EHRs. Patients will do this through the Patient Portal and providers will have access through the patient chart. We built this API based on the requirements of the 21st Century Cures Act. This API maps our EMA and gGastro EHR systems to the various US Core Profiles to help promote interoperability and accessibility through standardized formatting.

FHIR Technology in Action

FHIR-compatible applications seamlessly integrate with our EMA and gGastro EHR systems, providing patients with a comprehensive understanding of their health. For instance, a patient might utilize a cholesterol tracker that imports their most recent lab results, enabling them to monitor progress over time. Moreover, FHIR technology facilitates the aggregation and analysis of patient data, empowering healthcare providers to derive new insights and enhance patient care.

EMA Propietary API

The EMA Proprietary FHIR API by ModMed is a tailored FHIR R4 implementation that provides secure access to healthcare data like patients, appointments and clinical data. The Proprietary API is built to be a toolset that allows 3rd party vendors to natively extend EMA and ModMed Practice Management’s differentiated capabilities and applications in order to drive workflow and operational efficiencies for our customers. Key features include OAuth2-based security, sandbox environments for testing, and operations like CREATE, READ, SEARCH, and UPDATE. While it is based on FHIR standards, it also offers customized extensions for practice-specific needs. This API is a powerful tool for enabling integrated and interoperable healthcare solutions.

EMA and gGastro Certified FHIR API

The EMA Certified FHIR API is an HL7 FHIR R4 compliant tool designed for secure healthcare data exchange and tailored for use with EMA, MMPM, ModMed GI, and gGastro systems. It enables secure patient and provider access to data, allowing retrieval and visualization through patient portals or provider credentials. The API supports bulk data export in NDJSON format, facilitating population health insights and research. Key operations include read, search, and bulk data functionalities across various FHIR resources, such as patient demographics and clinical data. It employs OAuth 2.0 for secure access, incorporating SMART on FHIR capabilities for both standalone and EHR-integrated applications. Additionally, it complies with U.S. Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) standards, fostering seamless integration and enhancing interoperability between healthcare systems and applications.
